Glimpses of the Riga visit in October 2018'
ELTIS team visits Riga, Latvia as a part of an International Project CLIL@India
Dr. Vaishali Jundre, Dy. Director: ELTIS-SIFIL and Project Co-ordinator, CLIL@India, SIU along with Dr. Yogita Bhamare, Full time faculty, ELTIS visited Riga, Latvia in the first week of October. The visit was under the Erasmus+ Capacity Building Project “Developing Content and Language Integrated Learning-Resources and Training Centre for a Multilingual, CLIL@India. SIU is one of the partner universities.
The seven partner universities made their self assessment presentations as a part of their visit. There were discussions about challenges faced and procedures to be carried about in line with the project. The members also attended the 6th Executive Board Meeting for defining the future line of action for the project.
The University of Latvia arranged a city tour for the delegates, as a part of cultural immersion activity. A team of under graduate students of Department of English of the University of Latvia acted as tourist guides. The partner universities also got an opportunity to attend an Italian Opera. The team also visited the historical Rundale Palace and its beautiful Rose Garden, as a part of cultural immersion activity.
ELTIS is the co-ordinating body representing SIU for this project. The project has a lot of promise and aims at promoting the CLIL methodology among in-service school teachers. ELTIS has also developed a three credit course on this methodology for capacity building of teachers.
The project has one more year for action.
